Santa Claus has sent letters to my kids every year since they were born, but I've never purchased a letter from a company specializing in this service. There are some great companies out there (I really do like Package from Santa, which offers WAY more than a letter), but some of the other services, especially some of the do-it-yourselfers who sell Santa letters on eBay, simply don't offer anything I'd want to give my kids. I'm particularly dismayed by sites I've seen that allow you to see a sample letter and it's full of grammatical errors. I really don't want my kids thinking Santa Claus can't spell or write. Instant messaging and Internet shorthand is already making it hard enough for them to learn proper spelling and punctuation.
So a nice compromise between expensive services that may not offer what I want and the need to do everything from scratch is a Santa letter template. Santa letter templates are easy-to-use Microsoft Word documents that already have a colorful Christmas image and a draft letter from Santa Claus included in them. But you can edit as much or as little of the letter as you like. That makes it perfect for parents who aren't artists or writers, but still want the option of personalizing their child's letter.
You can find free Santa letter templates online that offer few features, or you can choose a site like Santa Letter Templates.com, which offers printable printable Santa letter templates along with envelopes, alternate text and (optional) printable Nice List certificates for less than you'd pay for a single letter from many sites. You can use them over and over for as long as you like, and you'll never pay again.
I like it when Santa is frugal and smart.
