One Billion Reasons to Support One Bilion Rising

One Billion Rising is a global campaign to help bring awareness to the issue of violence against women and girls. One of out every three women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime, meaning well over one billion women will be affected.

One billion women violated is an atrocity. One billion women dancing is a revolution.

And the revolution is coming. On February 14, 2013, people from every country of the wold will be participating in One Billion Rising.

The campaign is being spearheaded by V-Day, a global organization started by Eve Ensler, an activist and playwright who is best known for "The Vagina Monologues." V-Day's aim is to put an end to violence against women and girls. One Billion Rising is their largest campaign. It is bringing together people from all over the world to dance in protest of violence.

"Break the Chain" is the anthem for this uprising, and famed choreographer Debbie Allen has created the dance steps that millions around the world will perform.
